The work of a teacher, is to help his/her students to safely experience the journey of a posture on multiple levels.
This journey is made richer and more meaningful, when the teacher has the capacity to work well with the bodies in the room and to create a safe experience for all the students involved. And so, whether you’re working with a single practitioner, a group class, or teaching friends and family, this training Is all about giving you the confidence to read bodies, make well assessed adjustments and be really effective in your approach to sequencing. Let’s get empowered!
TRAINING THEMES AND COMPONENTS
READING BODIES AND CREATING ALIGNMENT
All the best teachers have a really keen eye. They watch their students closely for alignment and respond on the spot with cues as they continue reading bodies. We will practice doing this a lot! The more we observe our students, the better we get at helping them have breakthroughs.
SHARPENING YOUR ADJUSTMENT TOOLS!
There are many ways to adjust. And so there are many skills that need to be worked on to make those adjustments meaningful. From building a cueing vocabulary, to understanding how to demonstrate postures to learning how to physically adjust, we will work on it all.
GETTING PHYSICAL
A big component of the training will involve learning how to use the power of touch to give your students a safe and unforgettable experience in a pose. In interactive sessions, we will work on practicing multiple ways to adjust and assist postures in all the posture families including backbends, twists, standing postures, seated poses, arm balances and inversions.
PROPS, PARTNERWORK AND BREATHING
As part of the physical adjustment component, we will look at a posture through multiple lenses and work on adding new ideas to your sequencing tool box and ways in which to design classes that break the mold and empower your students.
INJURY MANAGEMENT & PREVENTION
Although we are not doctors, as teachers of embodiment, it is an added advantage for us to be able to connect with students who are limited in their range of movement. And so, we will also cover common injuries that we encounter among practitioners and how to help manage them. Additionally, we will also address teaching methodologies that will help minimize injury altogether.
INTELLIGENT SEQUENCING
Yoga is about learning how to love living in the body that your are in. And so, this training will also go over how to sequence in such a way to be all inclusive, welcoming and encouraging students to explore their practice, self-adjust and works in a way that safely progresses them, each time they get on the mat.
