I have never met him. But I owe my life to him. I found my practice because my teacher found me and led me back into a path of self discovery and a flow of intuition. Since then Ashtanga has been a life line for me and has opened so many doors so many other practices.

I cannot imagine a world without this practice. As much as I’m sure my teachers cannot imagine a world without their Guru.

We grieve together, the passing of the pillar of the community. We will always love you. ❤️🙏🏽✨

WOW! WE’RE GOING TO CHINA! ———————

WHAT IS STRENGTH?

On the 100hr Align YTT I taught with @physiocore_fitness and @yogijanuary this question came up.

And we had so many answers to this question. And it was so wonderful to hear all the different perspectives and understand the story behind each one.

If I look back, my own definition of this word and it’s meaning have changes with time. In my earliest years this word has actually meant conforming. Safety is strength in numbers for any pack and so strength was in being with agreeing with everyone else. As unhappy as that made me.

Over time, that definition has been challenged. And it’s a hard battle to win. Because society demands the same. With or against. And of you’re not with, you’re left wondering, ‘what’s wrong with me?’.

But here’s my counter argument: ‘WHAT is right with you?’
And if you focus on that first word, WHAT, is actually causing you ask the question that separates you from the rest? This is the beginning of finding your strength. For that ‘WHAT’ is the thing that separates you from, not only yourself, but also from your ego. It is the beginning of the ultimate separation.

Authenticity is an excavation. It is work. It is questioning. And it is sitting in the muck. Sitting with all the conditioning. Being with all the stuff that you think is you. And then learning how to disown it. This is the kind of stuff I have been challenging for myself with myself for years. And this is the kind of teaching I want to bring to my classes, mentorships and trainings.

As a teacher and someone who has walked the path now for 11 years, I want to be of service to you. This practice of yoga continues to be the transmittier but sometimes we need someone to guide us to the signal. Let me be that person for you. I am here. Blinking. And whenever you need to reach out to me.

PEACE VS HAPPINESS————————————————————————————-
There is something that my wonderful Dad has always said and probably never thought about. As we’re leaving our childhood home, he’s always says to me - “Beta (beloved child) always be happy.” And I have always walked out of our family home thinking, ‘if he only knew how hard that was!’

I was brought up by hard working parents, who saved and saved and saved to give us an amazing life. And my whole life I have gotten everything I ever wanted. Not once did I ask my parents whether my wants were compromising their needs. Not once did they ever remind me that maybe they were…

My parents came to Dubai over 50 years ago with nothing but potential. They have grown up here. Grown two daughters here. Sent them both to universities in the States and set them up for success. I have heard them tell me stories of how they were nothing and slowly turned their themselves into something. And I cannot imagine what they have done… sacrificed their entire lives to make sure my sister and I had the best life. A life filled with all the possibilities and none of the ‘NO’s’ that they faced from their parents. So they could provide us with all the ‘Yes’s’. To live a life of freedom and growth - in any direction. Without judgement.

I had an argument with my mother yesterday about my father’s comment about happiness. I argued with her about happiness being an emotion and peace being a choice. But I realize my father is speaking of his desire for peace for us. When he reminds me to be happy and just be happy, it’s about the importance of doing what makes me joyful because he was never allowed that privilege. And of always remembering that I have a choice. In every situation. And to be at peace with the decision I have made. Which is not always easy, but is something that he practices always.

I love my parents. And I know exactly why they are mine. I needed the freedom to make mistakes. The forgiveness for all I have done. And the guidance to a path I follow now. My soul has always chosen it’s path. And its teachers and I am only now realizing…

Come join us in Goa for a one-of-a-kind yoga training, with the option to dive deep into the parts of your practice and teaching that you want to develop.

With a modular approach, you will have the freedom to choose to do one, two or all three modules, each very different, taught by three expert teachers. Each 100HR module will be covered over the course of 2 weeks:

Module 1 - Align - August 31st - September 14, 2024
Is all about the physical body. Understanding postures, intelligent sequencing, posture adjustments, myofascia and MFR sequencing, injury management, prehab, rehab and so much more!

Module 2 - Awaken - September 14 - September 28, 2024
Is all about feeding the soul. This module will cover yoga history, yoga philosophy including the yoga sutras, Bhagvad Gita, yoga mythology, working with God and Goddess archetypes, chanting practice, Ayurveda and Ayurvedic applications and more!

Module 3 - Ascend - September 28 - October 12, 2024
This module is all about the subtle body. So breathwork, proper application, guiding pranayama classes and sequencing, practicing and teaching meditation, and mindfulness. We will work to create a gorgeous toolbox of practices to help you build your practice and share with your students.

HAPPIEST YOGA DAY!

It’s been a couple weeks since this amazing @rumiearth event happened at @dubaisportsworld on the 30th of June, and I can’t not talk about how fabulous it was! Not only was it the biggest event in Dubai for yoga day, but it was also the lmost well curated and beautifully attended.

The energy throughout the magical Sunday was incredible. From all the teachers who taught all the different sessions, to all the amazing yogis who showed up to share their fantastic practice with us all, to @beatxx.percussionist and his fantastic live music that set the tone for all the beautiful sessions, especially mine. ❤️🙏🏽

A huge thank you to my gorgeous gang of yoga angels for sharing space with me and helping me guide the yoga and partner work session - @miriam_flows @nunisoriano @the_path_of__freedom and my girl Brigette ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏽

The whole morning was a true celebration of our wonderful practice and a gorgeous reminder of how lucky we are to be able to share our passion for what we love with the greatest community of like minded people. ❤️❤️❤️✨🙏🏽

STRENGTH

I’ve been thinking about this word a lot lately. And all the meanings it has had in my life so far. I remember a time when I was broken, so broken that strength meant to cut the world off and put on an armour of isolation so I could heal and put myself back together. I grew big. And bulky. I shaved my head and didn’t allow myself to cry. This was strength to me.

At some point a few years ago, I slipped off the armour. Decided it was time to feel again. To step into the world more fully and connect with people that felt safe. I wanted to find myself. To get in touch with all of me. And so connection felt like where I poured all my resources and found my strength.

Today, I feel like I walk around with my emotions on my sleeve. There is no need to hide and no need to pretend. All of me deserves to have a voice. All my selves are welcome. There is a real desire to bring into the light all the emotions, and the patterns behind the emotions. To get in touch with my feminine. To heal my wounded masculine. To live in true harmony with all that wants to live within me. I want to move from that place. I want to live from that place. I want to love from that place. It feels like I’m walking around naked. The most vulnerable I have ever been. And yet, it feels like I’m the strongest version of myself that has ever lived.

If you ever feel like you’re going through it, know that it’s okay. It’s life, asking you to rise. To get strong. Stronger than you ever thought you could be. Go through what you are going through. Because on the other side is a version of you that deserves to be brought to life. ❤️✨
